Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Canopy Inventory for Shopify.
How do I install Canopy Inventory?
Canopy Inventory is coming soon to the Shopify App Store. Once it is approved you install it from the Shopify App Store. Leave your email on the install link page and we will send one email with the install link the day it is live.
Does Canopy Inventory change my Shopify data?
No. Canopy Inventory is read-only. It reads your products and variants, inventory levels and Cost per item, locations, and orders. It never writes stock, costs or anything else back to your store.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
The app privacy policy explains what data the app holds and how it is deleted after you uninstall.
What does "weeks of cover" mean?
Weeks of cover is how long your stock lasts at your current sales rate. Canopy works it out for every SKU using a 7, 14, 30, 45, 60 or 90-day sales window, and shows the likely stockout date and the date you need to reorder by. Try it for one product with the free weeks of supply calculator.
How are reorder quantities worked out?
Canopy suggests a buy quantity that covers your lead time, safety stock and target cover, then rounds it to your pack size and MOQ. You can set these for the whole shop, a supplier or a single SKU. Incoming purchase orders you enter are deducted. To test the sums yourself, use the free reorder point calculator with safety stock.
How is the cash needed to buy calculated?
It uses the "Cost per item" you hold against each product in Shopify, multiplied by the suggested buy quantity. To check what you make on each unit, calculate real margin per SKU.
Does Canopy Inventory do barcode scanning or stocktakes?
No. Canopy Inventory does not do barcode scanning, stock counts or goods-in. It focuses on weeks of cover and what to reorder. If you are choosing scanning hardware, compare phone scanning vs a dedicated scanner.
Is there a free plan or a free trial?
Yes. Canopy Inventory is free for your 50 most recently sold SKUs. Growth ($39 a month) and Pro ($79 a month) have a 14-day free trial. Prices are in US dollars and charged through your Shopify bill.
Does Canopy Inventory replace Stocky?
Shopify removed Stocky from the App Store on 2nd February 2026 and it stopped working on 31st August 2026. Canopy Inventory helps with the reorder planning side: weeks of cover, stockout dates and what to buy. It cannot import Stocky data, so you re-enter incoming purchase orders by hand. Before read-only access ends, read what happens to your Stocky data.
The app's privacy policy, published with its Shopify App Store listing, gives full details of the data Canopy Inventory uses.
